Issue One responds to Jan. 6 select committee member developments, reiterates call for independent commission

Following Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to seat Reps. Jim Banks and Jim Jordan on the January 6 select committee and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s subsequent move to pull all five of his GOP picks from the committee, Issue One’s Founder and CEO Nick Penniman and Executive Director Meredith McGehee released the following statement:

“Today’s developments reinforce the case for why an independent and bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the Capitol, insulated from the hyper-partisanship in Congress, is so imperative. The American people deserve nothing less than an objective and thorough investigation so that we can prevent this from ever happening again.”
