Rep. Jack Quinn (R-NY) joins the ReFormers Caucus

Issue One is excited to welcome former New York Republican Congressman Jack Quinn to the ReFormers Caucus. The ReFormers Caucus is a bipartisan coalition made up of former lawmakers, committed to reforming campaign financing and fixing our broken Congress.

Jack Quinn was a congressman for 12 years, serving on many committees including Transportation and Infrastructure, Veterans’ Affairs, and the Joint Economic Committee. Rep. Quinn also served in leadership positions as the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Congressional Steel Caucus and the Chair of the Republican Working Group on Labor.

He has long been a supporter of campaign finance reform. He voted yes on the Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002, otherwise known as McCain-Feingold (or Shays-Meehan), and other bills banning soft money to finance national political parties and issue ads.

In support of the Shays-Meehan campaign finance reform bill, Rep, Quinn said , “It’s obscene the way we have to raise money for elections.”

Currently, he is the president of Erie Community College. Before his time in office, he worked as a middle school English teacher and at a steel mill.

As a respected congressman and educator, Rep. Quinn is committed to working with his fellow ReFormers to reduce the influence of money in politics.
