Issue One welcomes former Mississippi Republican Senator and Representative Trent Lott to the ReFormers Caucus.
Sen. Lott began his 35 year career in national politics representing Mississippi’s 5th Congressional District from 1973 to 1989, serving as House Majority Whip for eight years — the first Southern Republican to hold this position. He later moved on to the Senate, serving as both Senate Majority Leader (1996 to 2001) and Senate Minority Leader (2001 to 2003). He is one of very few officials that has held leadership positions in both chambers of Congress.
Currently, Sen. Lott serves as the co-chair of the Squire, Patton & Boggs Public Policy department and is a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center.
Sen. Lott has a deep understanding of Congressional tactics, and Issue One welcomes his unique expertise to the ReFormers Caucus to help fix our broken political system.
