Stop playing politics and fund safe and secure elections

As coronavirus stimulus negotiations appear to have reached an impasse in Congress, Issue One Executive Director Meredith McGehee released the following statement:

“House Republicans have called for additional federal funding for safe and secure elections. Senate Rules Committee Chairman Roy Blunt has called for additional emergency federal funding. Election officials across the country have called for additional federal funding. It’s time for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to step in, listen to his own party, and ensure Congress takes action now — before it’s too late. The federal government must provide emergency federal resources to states and localities to help ensure our elections are safe and secure.”
