Today, eight House lawmakers — four Republicans and four Democrats — signed on to sponsor the Honest Ads Act (H.R. 4077), the best first step to combat the problem of hidden foreign disinformation campaigns targeted at the United States by implementing a disclosure system for paid, online political advertising.
“At a time when Americans are questioning whether Congress has the political courage to tackle one of the greatest threats to our democracy — foreign influence in our elections — this bipartisan group of leaders are stepping forward to back pragmatic, achievable solutions that merit immediate consideration,” said Issue One Chief of Policy, Programs and Strategy Meredith McGehee, “We applaud these 10 members of Congress from both parties for signing on and we need more to join them.”
